welcome / the shoot which inspired

Welcome to the new branch of my website! I wanted a simple space (separate from my wedding work) to share photos and inform small business owners of branding photography. This is something that's been on my heart a lot lately and I'm so excited to announce I'm officially accepting branding sessions at an introductory rate in 2018.

This blog will be a space where I blog inspirations, wish lists of businesses I'd love to work with, tips & behind the scenes, and most importantly, clients and their branding sessions. I'm dedicating this first blog post to the backstory of why I decided to offer branding sessions.

In the summer of 2017, my good friend Erin Rhyne & I wanted to do what we now call 'creative cardio', which is a term we coined the day we did this shoot. Erin is a rare gem of a friend & an incredibly talented artist who creates handmade headpieces for special occasions like weddings. She came over to my house and brought along some of the pieces she's created. I invited a friend over to model for us, and we really had no expectations of what or how we wanted to shoot. Once we got started, we figured out that we'd have Elizabeth model one of the pieces during the short time we had her, and we'd get one styled flat lay shot of each piece and one 'portrait' of each piece. It was a good place to start! As the day pressed on, we listed to the Edith Piaf Pandora station and styled to our heart's content. I was supremely enjoying the day not only because Erin is a dear friend, but it was also making my heart happy that she'd be getting just the kind of images she's been wanting to represent her brand.

This was the shoot which inspired me to want to continue styling and photographing products & people. We all have a story to tell, and I like to help tell to visually communicate that story to your ideal clients.
